What is the difference between zero shot and few shot prompting?

Zero-shot prompting is when an AI model is given only instructions with no examples, relying entirely on its pre-trained knowledge. Few-shot prompting, on the other hand, provides the AI with 2–5 examples to show the desired pattern or output.

Few-shot prompting often produces more accurate results for complex tasks because the model can infer the structure and formatting from examples.
