When is Orthodox Christmas 2025?
Orthodox Christmas is either on January 7 or December 25, depending on the calendar each church follows.
The Greek, Bulgarian, and Cypriot Orthodox Churches, as well as the Orthodox Church in America, follow the Gregorian calendar, celebrating Christmas on December 25.
Others, such as the Orthodox Churches in Serbia, Jerusalem, Russia, Georgia, and parts of Ukraine, observe the “old” or Julian calendar, which is 13 days behind the “new” or Gregorian calendar. For this reason, they celebrate Christmas on January 7.
