What is a Homeric simile example?
The following lines from the Iliad (6.146-150), where human generations are compared to leaves growing and falling each season, contain an example of Homeric simile (also known as epic simile):
“Generations of men are like the leaves.
In winter, winds blow them down to earth,
but then, when spring season comes again,
the budding wood grows more. And so with men—
one generation grows, another dies away.”
