What is the difference between a soliloquy and a monologue?

A soliloquy is a speech in which a character expresses their private thoughts and feelings, usually while alone or unaware that another character can hear them.

A monologue is any extended speech by one character, whether or not other characters are present. A soliloquy is therefore a type of monologue.
