The QuillBot team is excited to announce we have raised a $4.25 million Series Seed round led by Sierra Ventures and GSV Ventures with participation from Service Provider Capital. This marks a major milestone in the journey of QuillBot! We’re thrilled to be working with our two new board members: Mark Fernandes and Michael Cohn. Mark from Sierra Ventures has extensive experience investing in technology companies, and Michael from GSV Ventures has deep domain expertise within the EdTech industry. Having such strong investors will help us further grow and refine QuillBot.
What does this mean for the users? Millions of you have already used QuillBot to help you write, whether by improving your writing flow or fine-tuning the language in your text. You’ve all been instrumental in the improvement of QuillBot - all of your feedback and suggestions have helped us make leaps and bounds in quality. Our development has always been focused around giving our users a better experience, and we want to improve your experience in other areas of writing as well.
This is exactly why we raised this venture round - the funding helps us expand our NLP and full-stack engineering team, giving us even more expertise and letting us take QuillBot to a new level. To that end, we’re excited to announce a new tool: a summarizer! With the summarizer, you can take a news or journal article and summarize the contents in two ways. The first, extractive, gives you a list of bullet points with key information. The second, abstractive, generates a completely new paragraph that summarizes the information in a novel way. Both allow you to customize the length of your output. We will be rolling this feature out in the coming weeks.
We see the summarizer as the next step towards our ultimate goal: making writing painless by creating a comprehensive writing platform that, using AI, helps with your entire writing workflow. Whatever your need, be it sentence construction, building an argument, or researching a topic, QuillBot will simplify the process and make writing a pleasure, not a pain.
Thank you all once again for your support, and we look forward to continuing our journey with you!
